During every hygiene appointment, we check all your soft tissues in and around your mouth for anything that should not be there. We also check under and at the back of your tongue for anything unusual. Oral cancer is on the rise due to the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). There are approximately 14 million new cases of HPV yearly, and it is the leading cause of oropharyngeal cancer.
